About Buffy Lists

I’ve been a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fan for many years now, and an Angel the Series fan for slightly less than that…probably just years. Anyway, once upon a time, I was incredibly into the whole Buffyverse; watching all the episodes repeatedly, reading fanfiction, watching vids, sacrificing goats to Joss. You know, fan-girl stuff. Alas, as time went on and the two series were canceled in reverse alphabetical order, my love for the show, though eternal, became less pronounced as I sought new shows to fill the void…and, oh yah, started to get an awesome social life. Now, as my social life is less than it once was (though not gone completely), due the combined attack of school and working, I have rediscovered my love of the Buffyverse. Maybe it has something to do with boredom, maybe it has something to do with the giddiness I get from reading the new CANONICAL comics for Season 8 of Buffy and Season 6 of Angel. Whatever it is, I once again identify Buffy as the *Perfect Show* and Angel as an excellent spin-off, definitely worth the time and love. Bonus, I also remember all the details like episode titles and favourite fanfictions that I thought I’d long forgotten.

Why Buffy Lists? Why lists of random aspects of both Buffy and Angel?

Well, because for years I’ve thought of the characters, the plots, the seasons, etc. by rank. I think it has something to do with the fact that I love comparing things to other slightly related things. It also may relate to the fact that I’ve been reading a lot of Cracked.com recently.

So anyway, the point is I have a HEAP of lists in my head relating to the Buffyverse that I’d like to get out of my system. And if I’m going to be spending my time on what could be considered by most therapists as a fruitless endeavour, I might as well put it on the internet where people with the same level of geekiness for Buffy and Angel (hereafter referred to as B&A) as me can read, agree with or flame me for.

So what are the main topics that will be ranked and listed?

Pretty much everything considered canonical in the Buffyverse. This of course means that all seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are fair game. This site is like one gigantic SPOLIER for the whole universe, so consider this your one sentence spoiler warning if you haven’t seen every episode.

But this site also at times may branch out to Buffy Season 8 (comics), Angel: After the Fall (comics), Spike: After the Fall (comic), Fray (comic), and the Tales of the Slayers novels and graphic novel. I believe that everything else like books or comics, official or not, are considered glorified fan fiction, and I probably wont get to on this site.

I may also sometimes mix it up with things related to Buffy in some way, but outside the realm of the Buffyverse (recommended shows for Buffy fans, perhaps?) Who knows? I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Will this site be biased?

Of course! How could it not be? Except for lists based on the maths, expect all lists you ever read on any site or any paper to be slightly biased in some way. But I would consider myself more versed on the subject than, perhaps, a casual watcher, since I’ve had multiple viewings of the entirety of both shows and used to spend a lot of time on the internet reading random facts( I know, lahoo-zeher). You should probably note when reading these lists that I have a bit more knowledge in relation to Buffy than Angel, as I’ve seen the former show more times. You should also note that I have a burning in my loins for Spike, and that he’s bound to show up on here more disproportionately to his significance (just like his role on the show, I’ll admit).

Seriously, all these lists are in my humble opinion (unless otherwise stated), so if you think I’m dead wrong, please say so in the comments! If you agree, also say so in the comments. If you have anything to say at all; recommendations for new lists, hate for the banner…please comment. There’s nothing I’d love more than to foster discussion on B&A things.

Ok, but seriously, why am I spending my time doing this?

Because I’ve always wanted to make a Buffy site of my own, but I never really had the knowledge how or the patience. Plus I wanted to do something unique, not a generic Buffy fan site with a gallery and episode guides. You can get that on TV.com now. This blog-esque type approach to lists of Buffy related things is pretty much exactly what I can do, and what I feel like doing. Trust me, its not out of a lack of things to do or time to kill. I’m a university student studying biochemistry who commutes 2-3 hours each day, and despite what I said above, I do actually spend a fair amount of time hanging with my friends considering I should be using that time to study. So when I update this site with a new list, its because I *want* to.

God, think of the academic potential if I put all this brain-power dedicated to Buffyverse love towards my studies. *sigh* Oh well.

So, if its a site about both Buffy and Angel, why is it only called “Buffy Lists?”

Because “Buffy & Angel Lists” is much too long, and “Buffyverse Lists” sounds like ass. Thats why.

  1. I’m getting such a kick outta your lists! Such fun to read this while watching Buffy, listening to the OMWF soundtack on my iPod, playing with my Angel puppet, and finding another goat.
